Type
The box every lab starts with. Most switches here run layer 2 out of the box, and routing depends on the feature set. A Cisco part number ending in -S means IP Base, which adds OSPF, while Juniper's EX switches need an enhanced feature license for it. MikroTik's CRS switches route on RouterOS with their license included. Five are fanless and silent, including the Cisco 3560CG, the HP 2530-24 and 2610-24, the UniFi US-8-60W and the MikroTik CRS326. PoE budgets run from the US-8-60W's 48 W to 450 W on the MikroTik CRS328, and on the Catalyst 3750X the power supplies fitted decide it, from 435 W on the stock 715 W supply to 1,600 W with two 1,100 W units. Check the part number on the label, since one letter changes the ports, the PoE and the license.
