UniFi started in January 2011 as Ubiquiti's Wi-Fi system run from free controller software, and switches had joined it by 2015. The US-8-60W arrived in 2016, paired with the plain US-8, as UniFi's compact 8-port switch. It's a small steel box for a desk or a wall with eight gigabit ports, and ports 5 to 8 give out 802.3af PoE at up to 15.4 W each. Ubiquiti's own diagrams have it powering UniFi access points and G3 cameras. It's fanless and runs from an external 48 V adapter. Like every UniFi switch, you configure it from the free UniFi Network app, so it teaches VLANs, spanning tree, 802.1X and controller-managed networking. There's no console port and no routing. Ubiquiti now files it as the 8 PoE (Gen1) and still ships firmware for it. Read the PoE spec before you buy. It's 802.3af only, whatever the 60W in the name suggests.

There's no license. You set it up from the UniFi Network app, which Ubiquiti gives away with no licensing or support fee. What has to be cleared is the old owner's adoption, because a UniFi switch stays tied to the controller that adopted it until it's forgotten or reset.
Software and support
It runs UniFi switch firmware, pushed from the UniFi Network app, and there's a debug terminal for the command line. Ubiquiti now lists it as the 8 PoE (Gen1) and asks for UniFi Network 6.3.51 or later. Its firmware server was still adding releases for it in 2026, the latest being 7.5.15 in September.
Fans and power
It's fanless, and Ubiquiti's datasheet rates it at 0.6 dB above a 27.5 dBA background. Maximum draw is 12 W, not counting the power it sends out over PoE.
PoE
Ports 5 to 8 give out auto-sensing IEEE 802.3af PoE at up to 15.4 W each, and Ubiquiti's current spec page lists 48 W of total PoE. It doesn't do 802.3at PoE+, so the 60W in the name isn't a per-port figure. Ubiquiti's compatibility table rules out the UAP-AC-HD access point.
Ports and optics
Eight gigabit RJ45 ports and no SFP cage, so there's no fiber uplink. Ports 1 to 4 are data only and ports 5 to 8 add PoE. Management is in-band over Ethernet.
Reset and console
Hold the reset button for more than five seconds while it's powered to restore factory defaults. Before adoption, Ubiquiti's SSH login for older UniFi devices is ubnt/ubnt, and newer ones use ui/ui. There's no console port.
Should come with it
48 V, 1.25 A power adapter and power cord (supplied)
Wall-mount screws and anchors (supplied)

What to check
Ubiquiti's compatibility table says it can't power a UAP-AC-HD and won't run PoE passthrough on in-wall UAP-AC-IW models. If UniFi Network shows it as Managed by Other, it's still adopted to someone else's controller and needs a factory reset.
01Model: Check the label in the photos says US-8-60W. A plain US-8 has PoE in on port 1 and only one PoE out port.
02Power adapter: Look for the 48 V power adapter in the photos. The US-8-60W runs only from that adapter, not from PoE in.
03PoE budget: Add up the draw of what you'll plug into ports 5 to 8. Each port gives up to 15.4 W of 802.3af, and PoE+ devices need another switch.
04Adoption: Ask the seller to forget it in their UniFi Network app before shipping. Then it'll adopt cleanly into yours after a reset.
05Reset: On arrival, hold reset for more than five seconds with it powered. It should then show up in your UniFi Network app ready to adopt.
06Firmware: After adoption, let UniFi Network update the firmware. Ubiquiti was still releasing builds for it in 2026.
07Ports: Ask for a photo of it powered with cables in all eight ports. Each link LED should be green at gigabit.
08PoE LEDs: On arrival, plug a PoE device into one of ports 5 to 8. That port's PoE LED should turn amber.
We'd buy onsiteconsulting's US-8-60W at $100 delivered, titled with its power adapter, and the photo shows the adapter, cord, manual and retail box. There are at least 41 for sale and most ask $75–150 delivered, but units titled No Adapter or No AC ask $55–93 and need Ubiquiti's 48 V, 1.25 A adapter, since this switch can't run from PoE in. The 60W in the name isn't per port, because ports 5 to 8 give 802.3af only, at up to 15.4 W each, so a PoE+ access point needs a different switch. Ask the seller to forget it in their UniFi Network app, then hold reset for more than five seconds when it arrives so it adopts cleanly into yours.
