Security appliances for practicing zones, NAT and site-to-site VPNs. Juniper's SRX300, SRX210 and SRX240 run Junos, the same software as Juniper's switches, and the fanless SRX300 is listed at 0 dB. Cisco's ASA 5505 is small and has two PoE ports, but its features depend on whether it carries a Base or Security Plus license plus a separate user count, and Cisco ended its support in August 2022. Juniper keys its security subscriptions, like antivirus and web filtering, to the chassis serial number, and the SRX240's reached end of support in 2024. Plan on the firewall, routing and VPN features alone.
