The US-24 is the plain 24-port member of Ubiquiti's first-generation UniFi switches, covered by a 2016 datasheet alongside the US-48. It's a 1U rack switch with 24 gigabit ports, two 1G SFP uplinks, an RJ45 serial console and an internal power supply, and it draws 25 W at most. It has no PoE. Ubiquiti sold the PoE versions as the US-24-250W and US-24-500W. There's a fan, though the datasheet puts it only 1.6 to 9.2 dB above a quiet room. You configure it from the free UniFi Network app, with VLANs, link aggregation, spanning tree, 802.1X and port mirroring, and it switches at layer 2 only. Home-labbers like it as a quiet rack switch that slots into a UniFi network next to their access points. Ubiquiti now calls it the Standard 24 (Gen1), and it was still getting firmware in 2026. The Gen2 USW-24 is a different switch with a small touchscreen.

License, support, noise and ports
License and feature set
There's no license. It's configured from the UniFi Network app, which Ubiquiti gives away with no separate software, licensing or support fee. The only thing to clear is the previous owner's adoption, because a UniFi switch stays tied to the controller that adopted it until it's forgotten or reset.
Software and support
It runs UniFi switch firmware, delivered through the UniFi Network app, and there's a debug terminal for the command line. Ubiquiti now calls it the Standard 24 (Gen1). Its firmware server still lists new builds for it, most recently 7.5.15 in September 2026.
Fans and power
It has a fan with two speed levels. Ubiquiti's datasheet rates it at 1.6 dB above a 27.5 dBA background at fan level 0 and 9.2 dB above at level 1, but doesn't say how many fans. Maximum draw is 25 W from the internal supply.
Ports and optics
24 gigabit RJ45 ports and two 1G SFP ports for uplinks, with no SFP+. SFP modules don't come with the switch, so check the photos for any you need. The RJ45 serial port gives out-of-band access.
Reset and console
Ubiquiti's gen1 UniFi switch guides say to hold reset for more than five seconds to restore defaults. Before adoption the SSH login is ubnt/ubnt on older UniFi devices. The same guides set the RJ45 console at 115200 8N1 with a rollover cable.

AC power cord
Rack-mount brackets
Check the listing photos against this list, and ask the seller about anything you can’t see. A missing piece should come off the price.
What to check
If UniFi Network shows it as Managed by Other, it's still adopted to another controller and needs a factory reset before you can adopt it. Beyond that, most trouble is the previous owner's setup and missing rack brackets, not the hardware.
01Model: Check the label in the photos says US-24 with no 250W or 500W after it. Those suffixes mean a PoE model.
02Gen1 or Gen2: Look at the photos for a small touchscreen. If there is one, it's the Gen2 USW-24, not this switch.
03Adoption: Ask the seller to forget it in their UniFi Network app before shipping. Then it'll adopt cleanly into yours after a reset.
04Reset: On arrival, hold reset for more than five seconds with it powered. It should appear in UniFi Network ready to adopt.
05Firmware: After adoption, let UniFi Network update the firmware. Ubiquiti was still releasing builds for it in 2026.
06Fan: Power it up on arrival and listen. It should be barely above room noise with the fan on its low level.
07SFP modules: Check the photos for SFP modules if you need fiber uplinks. Both SFP ports take 1G modules only.
08Rack brackets: Look for the two rack brackets in the photos. Without them it can only sit on a shelf.
09Console: Use an RJ45-to-DB9 rollover cable on the console port at 115200, 8N1. You should get a login prompt.
We'd buy barnettelec's US-24 at $239 delivered, the only one here titled tested, with the power cord and rack brackets in the photo. There are at least 38 for sale, and most US used ones ask $160–240 delivered with no test claim, like animuscompute's at $160 with two UF-MM-1G fiber modules. Check the label says US-24 with no 250W or 500W after it, since those are the PoE models, and look for a small touchscreen, which marks the Gen2 USW-24. Ask the seller to forget it from their UniFi controller, or plan on holding reset for five seconds before you adopt it. The lowest price on a US-24 right now, $114 delivered at the current $100 with no bids, so expect it to climb. The photo shows a power cord and the retail box, but there's no test claim, so plan on a reset and a fresh adoption.
The only US-24 here titled tested, and the photo shows the power cord and both rack brackets, which is the hardware in the title. It's at the top of the band, so it's the one to pick if you'd rather pay for the testing than do it yourself.
