The CRS328-24P-4S+RM arrived in 2018 and took the CRS326 recipe to a PoE switch. It has the same Marvell 98DX3236 switch chip and 512 MB of RAM, with 24 gigabit ports that all give PoE out and four SFP+ cages. A 500 W power supply is built in. MikroTik guarantees 450 W for PoE, split into three groups of eight ports at 150 W each, and up to 30 W per port. The ports auto-detect 802.3af/at and passive PoE devices, which helps when you're mixing MikroTik gear with other brands' access points and cameras. Like the CRS326, it dual-boots SwOS or RouterOS, and RouterOS v7 adds hardware-offloaded IPv4 routing. Two fans keep it cool, and FAN FAULT and PoE FAULT LEDs tell you when something's wrong. There's a single PSU slot, so there's no second supply to hunt for. Ask for a photo of it powered on with those LEDs dark.
CRS328-24P-4S+RM (24 PoE ports), this modelCRS328-4C-20S-4S+RM (a different switch with 20 SFP cages)
RouterOS ships at Level 5, which allows 500 tunnels and 500 hotspot users. The license is bound to the switch's storage and can't be moved to another device, so it stays with the switch on resale. Netinstall doesn't erase it.
Software and support
It dual-boots RouterOS or SwOS and boots RouterOS by default. MikroTik's manual lists SwOS 2.9 and later plus RouterOS v6 and v7, and MikroTik's SwOS docs say CRS328 models need SwOS 2.7 or newer. Since RouterOS 7.1 the switch chip can offload IPv4 routing in hardware (IPv6 from 7.6), though not NAT or Fasttrack. Updates are free for the life of the product or at least five years from purchase.
Fans and power
Two fans, and a FAN FAULT LED lights if one has a problem. MikroTik gives no noise figure. The switch itself draws up to 44 W, and the product page puts the total at 494 W with a full PoE load.
PoE
All 24 ports give PoE out and auto-detect 802.3af/at or passive PoE devices, on mode B pins. MikroTik guarantees 450 W in total, split into three groups of eight ports at 150 W each, and up to 30 W per port at high voltage (26.5 W at low voltage). There's one built-in 500 W supply, so no second PSU changes the budget.
Ports and optics
Twenty-four gigabit PoE ports and four SFP+ cages for fiber or copper modules. MikroTik doesn't include modules, so check the photos for optics or DAC cables in the cages.
Reset and console
Hold reset during boot until the USR LED flashes to reset RouterOS, which also clears the password. Keep holding about 5 more seconds, until the LED goes out, for Netinstall on port 1. The RJ45 console is the Cisco-style type, at 115200 baud, 8N1, and needs a rollover cable.
Should come with it
IEC power cord (supplied)
Rackmount ears and K-54 screw kit (supplied)
RJ45 rollover console cable (not supplied)
Check the listing photos against this list, and ask the seller about anything you can’t see. A missing piece should come off the price.
What to check
The PoE FAULT LED lights when any group of eight ports goes over 150 W, so a port that won't power a device may just be in a full group. RouterOS 6.44 improved fan control stability on this model, so update an old unit first.
01Model code: Check the sticker says CRS328-24P-4S+RM in the photos. The CRS328-4C-20S-4S+RM is a different switch.
02Fault LEDs: Ask for a photo of it powered on. The FAN FAULT and PoE FAULT LEDs should be off.
03Fans: Ask for a short video with sound. Both fans should spin steadily without rattling.
04PoE out: Ask for a photo with a PoE device plugged in. Its triangle LED should light green for low voltage or red for high voltage.
05Operating system: Ask whether it boots RouterOS or SwOS, and for /system license print if it's RouterOS. Level 5 is what it ships with.
06Cord and ears: Look for the IEC power cord and rack ears in the photos. The power supply is built in, so there's no brick to find.
07SFP+ modules: Check whether modules or DAC cables come with it. MikroTik doesn't include them, so expect empty cages.
08Console cable: Get a Cisco-style RJ45 rollover cable for the console port. Set your terminal to 115200 baud, 8N1.
09Reset: On arrival, hold reset during boot and let go when the USR LED flashes. Defaults come up at 192.168.88.1 with user admin.
We'd buy buynsave2018's used CRS328 at $299 with free shipping, titled with the power cord and pictured with rack ears, or justo_wrigh's at the same price. There are at least 23 for sale, and the $470–700 band is mostly new dealer and import stock, since used ones ask $299–580 delivered and new ones $514–852. The 500 W supply is built in, so there's no brick to lose, and MikroTik guarantees 450 W of PoE across three groups of eight ports at 150 W each. It has two fans, so it belongs in a rack, and you should ask any used seller for a powered-on photo with the FAN FAULT and PoE FAULT LEDs dark. Skip multilink_solutions' used box-swap unit at $580 when the same seller asks $514 for a new one.

Tied for the lowest ask at $299 with free shipping, and the photo shows a real unit with rack ears fitted. There's no test claim and no cord shown, so ask for a powered-on photo with the fault LEDs dark.
Titled with the power cord, which shows in the photo with the rack ears, at the same $299 as the cheapest and well under the band. It isn't titled tested, so ask for a powered-on photo with the fault LEDs dark.
